In the process of answering this question, we found out some interesting facts about Roman shades.

The origin of Roman shades

As you may have guessed, Roman shades come from ancient Rome. At the famous Roman Coliseum, shades were installed that could be spread over the seats to keep visitors safe from the hot, bright sun.
